What is DataStar?
A Brief History

DataStar is the vision of Chad Hembree, a computer technology expert from Berea, with over 10 years of experience. Chad has assembled professionals from virtually every market (including: computer and network engineers, advertising specialists, graphic artists, accountants, electricians and more) to offer their experience and talents to make technology both simple and effective in nearly every situation. By combining these resources, DataStar offers the absolute best one stop source for computer and Internet technology solutions.

DataStar was formed as a partnership between CH Business Systems, Inc., CHBS.com Internet Services and BereaOnline.com. CH Business Systems was a very successful computer hardware business, building personal computer systems for many home users as well as specialized systems for clients such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and others. During the late ‘90s CH Business Sytems found the bulk of its business shifting from building systems to providing IT support to other companies.

Over the years, CHBS.com had evolved into a premier web design and hosting company designing and hosting sites for a variety of companies including ministries, realtors, medical facilities, e-businesses, florists, attorneys, and even an IHRA top fuel dragster team!

About this same time, BereaOnline.com was starting as a local e-zine providing monthly articles and advertising concerning events in and around Berea, Kentucky. The first of its kind e-zine in the central Kentucky area, it offered opinion pools and the extremely successful Berea’s Favorites poll, allowing viewer’s to vote for their favorite in over 100 categories.

The team of web designers and journalists assembled to produce BereaOnline.com began winning “Webbie” awards based upon both design and journalistic content in just a couple of years.

In 2003, the company was reorganized to enhance our ability to focus service in key areas and DataStar Unlimited, Inc. was born.
